Funerals, Eulogies & Memorials

Saying goodbye to a family member, loved one or a best friend can be one of the most challenging and overwhelming times in our lives.

Planning a funeral, eulogy or memorial for a loved one where you have the chance to share stories, listen to their favourite music, remember their lives and what they stood for is an important part of honoring them.

I will lead you through the process and together we can cherish that special relationship in a way that feels right.

As an independent celebrant I will be there to help you create a unique ceremony that means the most to you, your loved one and your family.

You can hold the ceremony at a location and time that is meaningful, and allows you to celebrate the life of the one you lost, with those who loved them too.

You can still choose your own Celebrant even if you have arranged the ceremony directly with your Funeral Director, Crematorium or burial site. I would liaise and work with them to ensure the ceremony runs smoothly.

"When Tomorrow Starts Without Me"

“I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last.

And since each day’s the same here there’s no longing for past.

So when tomorrow starts without me don’t think we’re far apart,

For every time you think of me I’m right here in your heart.”

Frequently Asked Questions - Funerals, Eulogies & Memorials

How much contact will we have with you before the funeral?

A funeral can be a difficult time, and it is my job to support you through the process and to make this part of the journey as smooth as possible. Our initial meeting is usually 1-2 hours long, and any follow up conversations are by phone or email, but this can vary as giving you the time and support you need will be my priority, we can meet face to face as often as you need. I am happy to answer any questions you might have in between visits and help you with any concerns you may have leading up to the funeral. I also work very closely with the funeral directors before and on the day of the funeral service to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Be assured that any support you need, I will be there.

Does every service you take have to be at the crematorium?

No – the funeral service can be at a location of your choice followed by a committal at the crematorium, burial at a designated burial site, or if you wish the committal to precede the service of remembrance. We can discuss options and I can help you make the best decision for you and your loved one.

Can I plan my own funeral?

Absolutely – yes. For some people it is really important to know who is going to be conducting their funeral and what is going to happen – even down to the detail of what is going to be said. It would be an honour and privilege to sit down with you and help plan the occasion that you want to celebrate your life.

Memorials

Some families choose to follow a private funeral with a separate memorial, at a later date, for a wider circle of friends and family.

Even if you don’t yet know when a memorial might be possible, you may find that it helps the grieving process to begin thinking about the content of the ceremony. I am here to help you do that.
