Are an Independent Celebrant and a Humanists Celebrant the same thing?

No they are not the same thing.

An independent celebrant has the freedom to create a bespoke ceremony that mean the most to you. We are able to include acts of worship – such as a prayer, music and readings or rituals that bring together cultures. Equally, we are comfortable with performing an entirely non-religious ceremony.

A humanist celebrant will only offer a secular or non-religious ceremony; their service is based purely on humanity and reason. They have no religious beliefs and so do not include any religious content in their ceremony.

Are your services completely non-religious, with no mention of anything spiritual?

As a celebrant I can help you to create a service that is about the whole person, including any spiritual or religious beliefs held. I am very comfortable to provide prayers and readings, songs and music of a religious or spiritual nature in any services I conduct. I am equally happy to help create a service with no religious or spiritual content but which celebrates every aspect of the people involved.

How do I know you are the right Celebrant for me?

The best thing to do is get to know me and see if I am a match for you! We will have an initial conversation where I can ask a few questions about you, the ceremony you want and what is important to you. You can ask me any questions you have and from there you decide if I am the celebrant you want to lead your ceremony.
